The story is found in the folklore of nearly every storytelling species in the Universe. For a thousand centuries, it was deemed to be a mere fairy tale for children.

Yet now, in these desperate times, it is widely clung to in the way people believe what they hope is true:

That when Mother Earth is in deepest peril, the Luminant will emerge.

As Visionary, this Luminant is said to comprehend what others have not yet dared to dream.

As Herald, the Luminant will revive the great forgotten language and speak the words that awaken sleeping courage.

As Leader, the Luminant will inspire and rally all sentient beings of good will.

And as Ultimate Champion, this warrior will stand alone against The Singularity, that hungry black hole of all black holes that would devour existence itself.

So it is said.

Yet herein lies the mystery of the very nature of faith: Is it true? Will such a savior truly emerge? Or is eternal hope itself merely a soothing myth, conceived by beings who cannot bear to face the prospect of Oblivion?

This is the unanswered question.

Now, the Heating scorches Mother Earth ever more fiercely. Glaciers weep their last, hot seas bleach corals and rage at coastlines, angry rivers attack habitats, and her breath, the air, seethes with fever. Despair spreads like plague across all lands as Oblivion presses closer.

All seems lost. So why begin the telling at this moment?

Because stories do not thrive in assurance. Like faith, they burn brightest on the edge of extinguishment.
